Please follow these steps:
Showering: Take a shower the night before and the morning of your surgery using antibacterial soap. Wash your hair first, then your body with a clean washcloth. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean towel. Do not use lotions, creams, or powders after showering.
Shaving: Do not shave or clip the area where the surgery will be performed unless directed by your physician.
Hand hygiene: On the day of your procedure, ensure that you, your family, and any caregivers wash hands frequently while at the facility and at home following your surgery. Do not hesitate to ask members of our healthcare team if they have washed their hands.
Post-operative care: After your procedure, continue to practice good hand hygiene and follow all instructions provided by your healthcare team regarding the care and cleaning of your surgical site, as well as any post-operative medications and bandages.

Are there special considerations for a child having a procedure?

Tour: We encourage you to arrange a tour of our facility with the pre-operative nurse to help ease any fears.
Comfort items: Your child is welcome to bring a favorite stuffed animal or blanket for comfort.
Transportation: For young children, it's best to have an additional adult accompany the driver to help care for the child on the trip home.
Health changes: If your child experiences any health changes, even minor ones like a cough or elevated temperature, between your last visit with your physician and the day of surgery, please notify your physician immediately. If you cannot reach your physician, please call the facility.
